DNA Testing Packages

Be proactive with your health

Variations in our DNA are what make each of us unique, and they can have a significant impact on our health. Nutrigenomics is all about how your diet can change how your genes are expressed, which can have a big impact on health, weight, and fitness. What you eat won't change the sequence of your DNA, but your diet and lifestyle can turn on or off certain genes or change the way they are expressed, which play a major role in your health outcomes.

I have really enjoyed working with you. It has been enlightening to learn about my genetic makeup, some of the processes involved and how they can be supported.

This information will be useful for the rest of my life. Your gentle, guided approach to look into what has been causing the issues I was presenting has meant that I have been able to implement the beneficial changes you have recommended without feeling overwhelmed.

Thank you so much.

The reports I recommend most frequently include:

  • Nutrient Core: This test analyses how gene variants can affect food tolerance (and intolerance), appetite control and blood sugar balance, vitamin and mineral needs, detoxification ability, and susceptibility to inflammation and infection.

  • Nervous System Report: My all-time favourite report because it gives insight into who we are.

Symptoms of neurotransmitter imbalance can include: mood imbalances, depression, mania, attention deficit and obsessive compulsive disorders, addictive behaviours, motor control disruption, anger, aggression and restlessness.

The report analyses gene variants that impact serotonin (contentment) and melatonin (sleep), dopamine (motivation), noradrenaline and adrenaline (fight or flight) and GABA which is critical for relaxation.

  • Hormones Report: This report is particularly useful for both women and men who have experienced hormonal imbalances, including: infertility, low libido and sex drive, low sperm count, acne, excess facial hair in women, PCOS, PMDD, blood clots, mood swings, depression, substance misuse, poor memory, weight gain, breast appearances in men, and hormone sensitive cancers, such as breast cancer or prostate cancer.

It’s very helpful for women who are experiencing problems with taking HRT.

  • Methylation Report: Imbalances in methylation - too little or too much - can increase susceptibility to chronic health conditions such as heart disease, circulatory problems, chronic fatigue, infertility, immune and autoimmune conditions, food and chemical sensitivities, and mood and psychiatric disorders, as well as cancer and premature ageing.

  • Metabolics Report: this report transforms our understanding of how genes confer metabolic individuality and underpin energy regulation, longevity and healthspan. It incorporates over 40 genes and 50 SNPs across 6 pathways, including appetite regulation, nutrient sensing, sugar and fat metabolism, cholesterol and bile, mitochondria and inflammation.

  • Histamine Intolerance Report: The Histamine Intolerance test analyses the genes and nutrients needed to breakdown and remove histamine, showing where disruptions occur and how to support optimal function.

I CANNOT really express just how much it has helped me to understand that my response to stress and my nervous system issues have such a close connection to my genes, rather than primarily because of my own personal failings. I feel so much more positive about addressing it.

My childhood was full of (small t, but significant nevertheless) trauma, and I can see how that, combined with my genetic tendencies, really set me up for decades of anxiety and depression. I’ve understood the childhood trauma part for a little while now, but the DNA/genetics part has really helped, by giving me a kind of ‘evidence’.

I really feel very grateful to have been able to explore this and to have received your advice yesterday.”Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

DNA PACKAGES

I use Lifecode Gx®, which offers a range of specialist nutrigenomics DNA test panels that inform how inherited health risks can be mitigated through personalised nutrition and lifestyle changes.

  1. MIND & MOOD DNA Package: £580.00

Because our patterns of thought & behaviour can tie in with our genetics, DNA testing can be a helpful tool to gain insight into our mental, emotional and physical health, for example:

  • Certain genes predispose us to addictive behaviours, insomnia, low mood, ADHD or anxiety.

  • People who are more wired or stressed or struggle with a busy mind may be genetically predisposed to having a stronger response to stimuli than others.

  • Some may have a genetic variant linked to susceptibility to intrusive traumatic memories, so may be more prone to PTSD.

When I use DNA testing in clinic, as well as giving practical insight into how best to support our individual genetic pathways through nutrition and lifestyle, clients often say it helps them to feel more self-compassionate, as well as more compassionate towards others.

It opens up interesting and very helpful conversations about how our outlook, our moods, and patterns of thought & behaviour tie in with our genetics.

The Mind & Mood DNA package gives insight into the genetic drivers behind:

  • anxiety

  • addictions and cravings

  • mood swings

  • attention deficit disorders

  • depression

  • low mood

  • anger

  • aggression

  • restlessness

  • insomnia

  • obsessive compulsive disorders

The Mind & Mood Package includes the following:
